Charleston Scans uses the JPEG format. This format is compatible with most image viewing and editing software. The JPEG format produces a much smaller file size allowing more files to fit on each cd. JPEG files also take much less time to open on your computer. Upon request, we will scan to other formats.
Do you scan slides?
Yes, we scan slides, photos and negatives.
How will my photos be organized?
We will scan your photos in the same order and groupings we receive them. We recommend that you organize your photos chronologically and in themes. For example: Summer 1977 or Bahamas 2000.
How should I package my photos?
Carefully group your photos in separate envelopes with bubble wrap to prevent bending or damage. Please remove any photos that may be in a photo album.
How should I package my slides?
It is best to group your slides in the original carton or plastic boxes you received them when you first developed them. If you do not have these, you may use separate envelopes or stack them using rubber bands. Loose slides should be grouped no bigger than 50 slides. Use protective material to prevent bending or damage.
How should I package my negatives?
Group your negatives in separate envelopes, protective sheets or archival sheets. Film strips should have no less than 2 frames and no more than 6 frames per strip.
